saturday afternoons

Woke up early enough to have a nice breakfast this morning. Toasted bagel with cream cheese and a cup of chinese-fied milk tea.

I got dressed to go out to see one of my best friends who's currently in the hospital but due to unforseen circumstances, I couldn't go. But I didn't want to have gotten dressed for no reason so tada! haha

Denim romper: Mama Chen's closet / Socks: Chinese Laundry from H&MPatent leather woven belt: Salvation Army

Surprisingly, it's actually a denim romper, not dress. Found it in my mom's archive of clothing a while ago and she said she didn't want it anymore so I snatched up that pretty little thing for myself. It was a little big on me, but nothing a sewing machine and about twenty minutes couldn't fix up! Didn't really go anywhere special so I just had a little self-indulging photoshoot in my sunroom.

And if anyone's interested, I do have a lookbook, but I only started using it after I started this blog so it's not so busy yet, haha. I'll get a widget for it someday. Someday.

Just wanted to give a great big thanks to everyone that's followed me or commented and everything these past few days! I really appreciate the support, no joke. It's very motivating, I love it. (:

Thanks everybody, stay lovely!

New York

Although I don't currently live in New York, I find myself spending so many weekends there and so much time there in general that it's pretty much my home away from home away from home. (Weirdly cyclical because I consider my current home the home away from home which is New York.)*

*Sorry if that was confusing, haha

Anyways, I'm in New York at least three weekends out of every month because I have relatives that live there, and because of those fantastic fresh fruit and vegetable markets in Chinatown! My parents love them, even though they're awfully overcrowded, in my opinion. We always take the car in and fill up the trunk with groceries for the week the way normal people from the suburbs do on their Sunday afternoon shopping trips.

 And the bakeries!

One of my favorite things to do when I'm wandering around Chinatown in Manhattan while my parents are grocery shopping and my brother's off doing his own thing, is stick my nose into some of the bakeries. When I was younger I used to nag my mom to buy me some of the sweets and pastries on display in the glass cases. Sometimes they were pretty good and other times I would wrinkle my nose and not be able to finish them, haha. Regardless of the taste, they're so pretty that I can't help taking pictures of them wherever I go.

Something else I like to do is take pictures of strangers without them realizing it, haha.

blogging is kinda scary, huh

Kind of like how my junior year of high school is essentially over, meaning I now have to start working on college stuff like an essay and a common app and a steady list of schools and asking teachers for recommendation letters and just figuring myself out in general. And then I'm going to become a senior and everything's going to be hectic and scary.

This summer I'll be heading home to New York to attend a summer program for fashion design. Super stoked, I'll be staying with my cousins who live in Manhattan and I'll pretty much be commuting into Brooklyn every morning to take classes at Pratt Institute. But these past few days I've been thinking about switching to either a creative writing elective or a film elective.

I can't decide, I'm too indecisive for my own good.

I hope this whole blogging thing ends up being a lot of fun, I really want it to be.
